BOTULINUM TOXIN
Two standard methods for reducing facial wrinkles are injecting botulinum toxin and filling wrinkles with hyaluronic acid.
Botulinum toxin is obtained from Clostridium botulinum and blocks the signal transmission between nerve and muscle, which leads to muscle relaxation and, thus, smooth skin. It has been used in medicine for years for various ailments and has also been used in the field of aesthetics since 2003.
Areas of application:
Botulinum toxin is approved for treating glabella and crow’s feet and excessive sweating under the arms. The effect lasts 3 to 6 months, with sweat treatments up to 9 months. The result becomes visible between three to five days.
